| We are looking down at an image of a slice of cancerous kidney tissue. A pathologist has diagnosed cancer in the right 1/3 of the sample; a white curve can be seen in the sample, separating the healthy tissue from the cancerous. The grid of darkened spots across the image are the sites where mass spectrometry was performed. The mass spectrometry data was analyzed to find arbitrary chemical signatures which may indicate proteins of interest. |
